The UTK Office of Ombuds Services welcomes Ame Houston as our Educational Program Support Specialist!
In this newly created position, Ame will be assisting our Educational Coordinator in support processes for logistics, delivery, evaluation, and development of our growing education and outreach services.
Ame is a freelance artist with an active studio practice – you can find her work locally and throughout the Southeastern U.S. She came to us from the College of Arts and Sciences. Ame is originally from Michigan, and is in the final stretch of her Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering. She is most excited about being a part of the Ombuds effort to empower individuals in whatever challenges they may face.
In other news – our current search for an Ombudsperson is going well!
The search committee has completed 4 on-campus interviews with excellent candidates for UT Assistant/Associate Ombudsperson in the past few weeks. Thanks to search committee members Merilee McCurdy, Professor and Unit Head with the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences; and Jessica White, Deputy Title IX Coordinator with the Office of Title IX. Also on the committee were Duren Thompson, Educational Program Coordinator and Search Chair, and Shovon Alam, Graduate Research Assistant, both with the Office of Ombuds Services.
Here are some examples of Ame’s work:
