By Brooke Wichmann, Associate University Ombudsperson
As I reflect on my journey as the Associate University Ombudsperson at the University of Tennessee, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible experiences and meaningful connections I have made since joining in November 2021.
Over the past few years, the Office of Ombuds Services has grown in both reach and impact. Together, we have enhanced our approach to supporting visitors, developed innovative educational programming, and contributed to meaningful systems change.
Serving as an ombuds has deepened my belief in the importance of providing a confidential and nonjudgmental space for individuals to voice their challenges, concerns, and aspirations. I’m grateful for the University of Tennessee for its commitment to offering these essential services to graduate students, faculty, and staff. The resilience, openness, and courage of our constituents have inspired me daily, making our work truly impactful and rewarding.
As I prepare to take on my next role as the first full-time Ombuds for the American Intercontinental University System, I will carry with me the lessons, memories, and connections forged here at UTK. These experiences will undoubtedly inform and inspire my work in this new leadership role.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Your support, collaboration, and trust have meant the world to me.
With sincere appreciation, Brooke Wichmann
